Konferenz: Definition – Interne & öffentliche Präsentationen (PK)

Der Ursprung des Wortes Konferenz ist auf das lateinische con-ferre (zusammentragen, sich besprechen) zurückzuführen. Eine Konferenz hat die Funktion, zu einem oder mehreren Themen Informationen zusammenzubringen und zu werten. Gleichzeitig ist die Konferenz ein Oberbegriff für verschiedene Arten von Zusammenkünften mit mehr oder weniger offiziellem Charakter. Eine Konferenz kann zum Beispiel eine firmeninterne Mitarbeiterbesprechung, eine öffentliche Präsentation für die Presse (Pressekonferenz) oder ein wissenschaftlicher Kongress sein. Allen Konferenzen gemein ist jedoch die Vorstellung eines Status Quo zu einem Sachverhalt, der Abfrage beziehungsweise Präsentation möglicher Handlungsweisen oder Alternativen, sowie einer abschließenden Prognose. Der Unterschied je nach Konferenzart ist die Veröffentlichung der Inhalte.

Grundlegend für eine innerbetriebliche Konferenz ist die Loyalität der Mitarbeiter zum Unternehmen. Alles, was in der Besprechung zu Wort gekommen ist, sind firmeninterne Angelegenheiten und gehören nicht in die Öffentlichkeit. Lediglich der abschließende Konsens wird – je nach Beschluss – eventuell als öffentliche Meldung präsentiert. Wissenschaftliche oder Wirtschaftskonferenzen sind teilweise schon während der Diskussion Medienvertretern, manchmal auch öffentlich generell zugänglich. Ziel beider Konferenzen ist (meistens) die Vorstellung der Ergebnisse der Konferenz für die Öffentlichkeit.

Bei Pressekonferenzen hingegen legen Unternehmen, Verbände, etc. gegenüber Journalisten Informationen oder Ergebnisse (z.B. Wirtschaftsjahrbücher) vor, von denen explizit eine öffentliche Präsentation gewünscht ist. Unterschieden wird hierbei jedoch nach den Schlagwörtern für die Journalisten. „Unter Eins“ (Tagesordnungspunkt Eins) heißt: „Frei zitierbare Information“. „Unter Zwei“ bedeutet „zitierbar, aber nicht sicher“, „Unter Drei“ meint „nicht zitierfähig, nur als Vorab-Information für Journalisten“. Als Pendant dazu gilt die Berliner Bundespressekonferenz (BPK) als eines der wichtigsten Elemente der Demokratie und der Medienfreiheit in Deutschland. Zur BPK laden Redakteure politischer Redaktionen die Vertreter der Regierung ein und führen das Wort gegenüber Ministern, Staatssekretären oder Regierungssprechern. Sämtliche Inhalte sind jederzeit zur Veröffentlichung frei.
